JOB TITLE Post-Doctoral Fellow LOCATION Worcester DEPARTMENT NAME Chemistry & Biochemistry - NFR - JM DIVISION NAME Worcester Polytechnic Institute - WPI JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Adebomi Lab at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Fellow position with an anticipated start date of October 1, 2026. The lab focuses on the design of biomolecules for applications in medicine, including peptide binders, nucleic acid-targeting molecules, de novo enzymes, and therapeutic hormone analogs. We are seeking a highly motivated researcher with a strong background in synthetic organic chemistry who is interested in expanding into peptide synthesis and biomolecular design. The successful candidate will work closely with the PI and contribute to shaping the direction of a newly established research program. JOB DESCRIPTION Responsibilities: Design and execute multistep synthetic routes for peptide-based and related biomolecular systems Contribute to the development of cyclic peptides and other functional biomolecules Collaborate on interdisciplinary projects at the interface of chemistry, biology, and computation Analyze and interpret experimental data and maintain well-documented research records Prepare manuscripts for publication and present research findings Contribute to grant writing and proposal development, including preparation of preliminary data and research summaries Mentor undergraduate and graduate students as appropriate Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field Strong experience in multistep organic synthesis and reaction design Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications: Experience with peptide synthesis or chemical biology Interest in biomolecular design and interdisciplinary research Exposure to computational tools for molecular design (e.g., Rosetta, AlphaFold, or related methods) What We Offer: Opportunity to be a founding member of a new research group Significant intellectual ownership and leadership opportunities Training in peptide synthesis and biomolecular design Mentorship tailored to support career development in academia or industry Access to modern instrumentation and computational resources Compensation: Salary: $65,000 per year based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity.
