Position Title: Seasonal Parks Maintenance Laborers (Parks, Grounds, and Trails) Job Posting Closing Date: ***OPEN FILE RECRUITMENT*** [Applications will be considered in the order they are received.] These are laborer positions needed seasonally by the Parks Maintenance Division of the Provo City Parks and Recreation Department. Provo Parks & Recreation is one of a handful of premier parks & recreation departments in the United States. Job Details What is the compensation? Pay Rate: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour (depending on experience) Seasonal Provo City employees are eligible to contribute to individual retirement savings plans through the City (401k, 457, Roth IRA, and/or Traditional IRA) and receive these great benefits: a) free admission to the Peaks Ice Arena Public Skating; b) a free Provo City Library Card; and c) discounts from various local and national vendors. What will I do? Aerate, fertilize, top-dress, over-seed, spray herbicide. Operate trucks, four wheelers, or small tractors. Assist in irrigation system repair. Assist other crew members as needed/directed and perform other related work as required. What do I need to apply? Sufficient knowledge, training, and/or experience that demonstrates an ability to perform the duties of the job. A valid, lawful driver license. State of Utah Pesticide Applicator License must be obtained within one month of hire. *** Please indicate if you have any specific Parks Maintenance interest areas on your application*** (Trails, Grounds, North, West, Downtown, etc.) What are the hours and duration? This is a seasonal laborer position in the Parks Maintenance Division that is expected to last March - November of 2025. Normally 10 hours per day, Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a 30-minute lunch. Actual schedule determined by supervisor. What are the physical and environmental factors? This work requires strenuous physical labor, walking, bending, reaching, lifting (up to 70 pounds), and exposure to adverse weather conditions and some pesticides. Applicant must have the physical strength and agility to perform the work. What is the selection process? This is an open file posting. Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted for any positions available at that time. They will remain on file for a minimum of 60 days. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration. If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months. Why Provo City?
