Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. Responsibilities: GENERAL PURPOSE Provides services to prevent, assess, diagnose and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive communication and swallowing disorders in children and/or adult population. It is a shared position between acute care and inpatient rehab. Candidates with adult acute care experience, prior work history with patients who have acquired brain injury (CVA, TBI) and/or spinal cord injury, and competencies in MBSS and/or FEES are strongly encouraged to apply. Monday-Friday. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Holiday and weekend coverage required. Must have CCCs and have or be eligible for full (not provisional) NYS SLP licensure. Unfortunately, clinical fellows will not be able to be considered for this position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs and interprets speech and language evaluations for patients with communicative disorders and those requiring more specialized care, such as patients with dysphagia, laryngectomy and aphasia. Plans and provides speech and language therapy and intervention based on evaluation results. Develops and initiates treatment programs for more complex patients, including Plans of Care. Provides counseling, education, and guidance to patients and their families regarding disorder(s). Adapts existing resources to meet patient and caregiver needs. Maintains comprehensive electronic medical records (EMR) for each patient. Communicates through written reports, flowsheet documentation, and other EMR specific tools. Recommends changes in standard departmental practices. Works collaboratively with professionals from other disciplines. Conducts clinical teaching with medical students and undergraduate/graduate students from various colleges/universities. Provides education and in-services to hospital faculty and staff regarding speech and language, communication, and swallowing disorders. May identify potential research projects and assist with the design and implementation of clinical research and data collection activities. Other duties as assigned.
