Job Description: Spiritual Care Coordinator Oversees daily operations of the Spiritual Care department, including volunteer chaplain recruitment, training, and supervision. Serves as onsite Chaplain, offering spiritual, emotional, and crisis support to patients, families, staff, students, and volunteers across diverse beliefs and cultures. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate effectively to patients, families, staff, and clergy of diverse backgrounds, values, ages, and beliefs with sensitivity and a non-judgmental approach. Responds quickly, calmly, and appropriately to urgent or emotionally intense situations, adjusting communication and actions to support high-risk or diverse patient populations. Communicates clearly in both one-on-one and group settings, able to explain complex information, facilitate discussions, and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary care teams. Maintains confidentiality, exercises sound judgment, and works independently with minimal supervision while meeting multiple deadlines. Demonstrates strong organizational, coordination, and facilitation skills necessary for managing spiritual care activities, volunteer chaplains, and program operations. Effectively resolves conflict, manages complaints, and negotiates solutions that support positive working relationships and high-quality patient care. Possesses knowledge of age-related communication needs, customer service principles, and relevant laws and regulations applicable to patient care and spiritual services. Maintains reliable, consistent attendance and is physically able to perform rounding, respond to calls, and carry out all chaplaincy duties across the hospital campus. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES AND EXPERIENCE Ordained, commissioned, licensed or endorsed by their pastoral/spiritual community required Bachelor's degree in a related field required Experience or training in pastoral/spiritual care such as ministry, Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent preferred Minimum of three (3) years experience in recruitment, selection and supervision of a volunteer or paid workforce, preferably in a healthcare setting Master's degree preferred GENERAL INFORMATION Union Affiliation: None The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.
