The Assistant Manager of Operations is responsible for managing and providing training for I.L.A. employees with the objective of maintaining a safe work environment, maximizing vessel productivity, controlling cost and meeting terminal and operational requirements. Assist with the enforcement of the security plan to ensure compliance with Federal Regulations CFR 105. Ensure to continuously strive to improve the service to all customers and provide an environmentally safe working environment for all APM and I.L.A. employees. As an Assistant Manager Of Strategic Operations, you will: Lead Daily Operations: Supervise I.L.A. employees and union labor to ensure all assignments are completed safely, efficiently, and on time. Optimize Labor & Cost: Direct labor to minimize costs and maximize terminal throughputyour decisions directly impact our bottom line. Payroll & Time Management: Monitor labor arrival times, authorize overtime, and ensure accurate payroll documentation and adjustments. Enforce Safety & Accountability: Take decisive action to maintain safe operationsincluding issuing warnings, replacing, or terminating labor when necessary. Make Strategic Decisions: Use independent judgment to improve terminal performance, reduce turn-time, and enhance labor utilization. Handle Grievances Effectively: Investigate and resolve labor grievances using sound discretion and knowledge of labor agreements. Collaborate Across Teams: Work with other management leaders to resolve issues and drive terminal-wide success. Support Rail Operations: Supervise stakeholders to meet service level agreements and ensure smooth rail logistics. Communicate Proactively: Partner with Strategy & Optimization to report deviations and contribute to continuous improvement. Champion Teamwork: Foster collaboration with internal teams, customers, carriers, vendors, and labor partners. Align with Global Strategy: Coordinate with other logistics units to support the APMM Groups strategic goals. <>· What Does APMT Terminals look for in a Qualified candidate? Education- Prefer Bachelor degree in related field or Associate degree. Three (3) years transportation/stevedoring experience or equivalent military experience. Leadership Strong managerial, supervisory, team-building, motivating and decision-making skills in order to direct the I.L.A. Labor on a daily basis to achieve operation goals. Is receptive to innovative ideas and suggestions. Thinks strategically and has long term vision. Accountability Achieve short term operational targets by maintaining standards that lead to high performance and execution Agility Ability to modify important changes rapidly Collaboration Ability to work together across boundaries and exchange as well as adapt skills Functional Excellence Broad knowledge in job area or discipline or expertise in specific discipline. What are APMT Terminals Physical Requirements & Work Environment? Frequent standing, walking, and use of hands for handling materials or equipment. Regular communicationboth verbal and auditoryis key. Activities may include reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Occasional seated work at a computer terminal. Ability to lift and move: Up to 10 lbs regularly Up to 25 lbs frequently Up to 100 lbs occasionally Visual acuity requirements include close and distance vision, color differentiation, peripheral awareness, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus What Does APMT Offer? Job Type: Full Time Salary: 85,000.00 to 95,000.00 Benefits: Full time employees are eligible for Health Insurance, Paid Time Off, and 401k Match The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for this position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
