Job Description Who were looking for: The UW Medicine - Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology (DLMP) in Seattle, WA has a fantastic opportunity for a Phlebotomist with the Ambulatory Laboratory Team at multiple locations. Work schedule: Intermittent Day shift What youll contribute: Collects blood with venipuncture and micro techniques on adults, children and infants. May be trained to instruct patients in proper sample collection techniques. Greets and checks patients in, including verifying order information. Receives submitted samples from clinic staff. Verifies proper labeling. Cleans and stocks blood draw area daily. May learn to accept and verify lab orders utilizing the Epic/Sunquest interface. Identifies problem orders. Handles routine phone calls and communicates with clinic staff, physicians and patients in a courteous, professional manner. Refers inquiries when appropriate. Performs filing and other clerical tasks as needed. Follows universal precautions. Uses personal protective equipment when indicated. Practices safety procedures. Assists with orientation and training of new employees and students. Supports service and UWAMC goals, service efficiency, and effectiveness through such activities as: Participating in problem solving, demonstrating support of policies, sharing expertise, and contributing to project work and committees. What youll need: High school graduation AND completion of a phlebotomy course. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration. Current Medical Assistant - Phlebotomist certification (MA-P) with the Washington State Department of Health OR obtain the MA-P within 60 days of start date.
