This position is responsible for maintenance of a variety of equipment, using a variety of tools in RTD facilities, ParknRides and bus shelters. This is a safety-sensitive position subject to the rules and regulations of the Drug and Alcohol Policy. Duties & Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL: Conducts self in an appropriate manner as a representative of RTD, working effectively in a diverse working environment. Work in all RTD facilities; park n Rides and bus shelters. Safely operates electrical and air powered tools, pipe fitting, welding, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other mechanical tools, snow removal and salt spreader equipment and/or other heavy equipment assigned to the department. Installs new/replacement equipment and materials in all RTD facilities by performing electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, masonry, glazing, boiler, hydraulic, pneumatic, irrigation, heating, refrigeration, ventilating, air conditioning and other maintenance work. Trouble shoots, diagnoses and repairs malfunctions in boilers, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, heating, refrigeration, ventilating and air conditioning, irrigation and other RTD systems, structures and equipment. Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics and technical manuals pertaining to facilities and equipment installed and serviced. Surveys work requirements, measures and calculates materials, labor, and systems requirements, prepares material lists and carries out required tasks in a timely and efficient manner. Works under minimum supervision. Handles hazardous materials safely including acidic, caustic, volatile and explosive substances. Conforms to all safety regulations and practices. Works flexible days, hours, shifts. Works on occasion in confined spaces, at unusual heights, outdoors in all weather conditions, in a garage environment and lift up to 60 lbs. OTHER: Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: All applicants must have, or be able to obtain, a valid Colorado Commercial Drivers License (CDL), Class B, within 90 days. Must possess a valid driver's license. No DUI, DWI, or reckless driving in the past 5 years Ability to pass a RTD required Physical Ability Assessment (PAA) related to the physical requirements of the essential functions of the job. Knowledge and experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing, industrial waste, air conditioning, heating, irrigation systems, boilers, pneumatic, equipment, pumps, hydraulic equipment, pipe fitting and welding. Skill in the use of the tools and performance of the tasks of the various trades utilized to repair the systems. Possess a minimum set of hand tools as specified by the RTD facilities maintenance tool list. General knowledge of safety procedures and ability to follow safe working practices. Must be able to acquire knowledge of EPA, DOT and other related safety rules and regulations and have knowledge and ability to follow safe work practices. Must be able to read and understand at the appropriate level technical manuals, schematics, blueprints and technical trade code books pertaining to facilities and equipment serviced. Must be able to work under minimum supervision and be capable of directing others in assigned duties. Ability and willingness to work in confined spaces, at heights, outdoors and to lift objects up to 90 lbs. in weight. Ability to work flexible days, hours, shifts. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse workforce. OR An equivalent combination of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics consistent with the required qualifications as determined in the job analysis.
