Job Description: The Electrical Controls Engineer II is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing electrical control systems for manufacturing and automation applications. This role contributes to departmental objectives by delivering reliable, efficient, and scalable control solutions that meet project and customer requirements. The Electrical Controls Engineer II works independently on moderately complex systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful system integration and performance. This position also supports continuous improvement initiatives and provides technical expertise to enhance product quality and operational efficiency. Primary Duties: Design and develop electrical control systems based on project requirements, including creation of schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation. Develop and implement control system programming to support automation and equipment functionality. Integrate control systems with equipment components to ensure reliable and efficient operation. Conduct system testing, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure performance, reliability, and safety. Identify and resolve system issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions. Collaborate with engineering, production, and project teams to support system integration and project execution. Ensure compliance with applicable standards, codes, and safety requirements. Support system startup, commissioning, and optimization in manufacturing and field environments. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: Troubleshoot and resolve complex control system issues in production or field environments. Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying and implementing process enhancements. Assist in developing standards, procedures, and best practices for control systems. Provide technical support and guidance to entry-level engineers and technicians. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Requirements: Requires a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline; 4+ years of experience in electrical controls engineering or a related field, Or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Working knowledge of electrical control systems and industrial automation principles. Ability to design and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system layouts. Proficiency in control system programming and troubleshooting. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Essential and Physical Functions: Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats. Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and decision-making skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to sit for extended periods and perform detailed design work. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally. Visual acuity, including close vision and color differentiation for system design and troubleshooting. Ability to travel occasionally to support commissioning and field service activities. Work Environment: Perform work in both office and manufacturing environments. Exposure to varying temperatures, including occasional extreme heat or cold. Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and production equipment. Moderate to high noise levels in manufacturing areas. Regular interaction with engineering, production, and project teams. Compliance with all safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required in manufacturing areas.
