SUMMARY: The Senior Virtual Construction Engineer is a technical leader responsible for planning, overseeing advanced BIM/VDC workflows on complex construction projects. They provide strategic direction for model based coordination, and deliverable development while mentoring junior staff. This role leads multiple complex BIM coordination efforts while reporting to higher staff. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Surveying, or related field, or equivalent years of experience A minimum of three (3) years VDC experience Advanced proficiency across BIM industry software such as Autodesk Navisworks, Revit and AutoCAD Demonstrated ability to independently manage federated models, clash detection, and coordination issue resolution Deep understanding of point cloud processing, analysis and incorporation into VDC efforts Ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently Strong communication skills with project teams and leadership Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Proven experience leading coordination efforts on active construction projects Strong understanding of construction documents, building systems, assemblies, phasing, trade coordination workflows Ability to interpret and validate shop drawings and submittals TECHNICAL JOB KNOWLEDGE: Leads advanced trade coordination efforts on complex new construction and renovation projects, including clash detection, issue tracking, coordination meetings, integration of shop drawings and RFIs, and preparation of coordination reports. Manages Virtual Construction project setup and model administration, including folder structures, naming conventions, file processing, and development of complex federated models in alignment with project controls and company workflows. Applies discipline-specific scope knowledge and BIM Execution Plan requirements to define coordination needs and deliverables, including specialized efforts such as core drilling coordination for building conversion projects. Independently produces and oversees advanced BIM/VDC deliverables, including trade composite drawings, overlay studies, point cloud processing, site logistics plans, and related documentation using company-standard tools. Establishes and enforces project-specific QA/QC procedures to ensure model accuracy, coordination completeness, adherence to standards, and alignment with project coordinates. Collaborates with Field Engineering and Reality Capture teams to establish project requirements, point of origin selection, and effective integration of reality capture data. Evaluates coordination challenges and develops creative, constructable solutions by leveraging experience and technical expertise. Aligns Virtual Construction deliverables with construction schedule milestones and supports project teams in meeting critical deadlines. Provides technical oversight and mentorship to junior staff, guiding assignments and promoting efficient, high-quality workflows. Supports cost management for VC projects and actively advances technology adoption, automation, and innovative workflows to enhance project delivery.
