The School of Medicine's Division of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a Temporary Research Study Assistant 2. The purpose of this position is to provide research study coordination for 2 NIH-funded clinical trials evaluating remotely delivered exercise and technology-enhanced cognitive-behavioral skills training for pain management among older adults with knee osteoarthritis and an NCM management model of delivering cognitive behavioral therapy and referrals to tele-EF among rural adults with chronic pain. The research study coordinator 2 will work under the direct supervision of the project PI. This position plays a key role in conducting 2 innovative behavioral intervention studies. Knee osteoarthritis is a common, leading cause of pain-related disability in older adults. The PACIFIC study is focused on evaluating a community-based intervention that combines physical exercise and behavioral health skills training to improve physical activity in older adults. Under the supervision of the PI, this position will be responsible for data management of accelerometer data, patient-reported outcomes, and physical performance data. This person will assist with data cleaning and preparation for data analysis. This position will manage participant communication during the follow-up phase of the study, the collection and reporting of adverse events, and participant incentive payments. They will assist with study closeout activities. The individual in this position will be working with older adults experiencing pain and must understand this population of patients. The research coordinator should be skilled at patient interactions to ensure patients feel comfortable with participation. This individual must have some experience with research involving human subjects chronic pain is highly prevalent and there are limited non-pharmacological treatment options in rural areas. AIM-CP is a pragmatic study of a nurse care management model, including CBT for pain management and online exercise classes. This position will build and maintain the necessary website features including referral to tele-EF and training resources. They will assist a range of study partners in accessing and use website features. They will manage purchasing and sending tele-EF materials to referred participants and will provide technical assistance UW Medical Center is home to the worlds first multidisciplinary pain clinic, which opened in 1961 and became a world model for the diagnosis, study, and treatment of chronic and acute pain. As the birthplace of modern pain medicine, UW Pain faculty serve as key leaders in multiple pain societies, editorial boards, and state, regional, national, and international initiatives. The pain clinic provides comprehensive compassionate pain care and guidance on the latest evidence-based practices. We are a national leader in the education of primary and specialty healthcare providers and we engage in cutting-edge research to improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes. Given the high burden of pain in the older adult population and limited treatment options that are safe and effective, the long-term goal of this research study is to establish a low-cost, effective behavioral health program for older adults with chronic musculoskeletal pain that complements existing community-based exercise programs and that can be widely disseminated Position Responsibilities Details Of Major Job Duty & percentage of time: Data Management (40%) Manage accelerometer data collection, and data transfer into a research database (e.g., REDCap) Manage patient-reported data collection and data entry Manage data cleaning of all data including patient-reported data, physical performance data, and accelerometer data Research Coordination (AIM-CP) (35%) Manage purchase, mailing, and return of tele-EF materials for participants Provide technical assistance for participants enrolling in tele-EF classes Manage invoices and payments to community partners for tele-EF classes to facilitate communication between tele-EF providers and participants, as needed Website management (15%) Maintain the AIM-CP study website which includes tele-EF referral pathway, nurse care manager training materials Assist partners and study team members gain access and using website features. Research Coordination (PACIFIC) (10%) Monitor Adverse Events and complete corresponding regulatory data forms Submit and monitor participant incentive payments Assist with study closeout with activities MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: A bachelors degree in a relevant academic area AND two years of experience coordinating the operations of clinical, biomedical, or behavioral research studies involving human subject OR equivalent education/experience.
