Next Generation Spectacles are our first pair of glasses that bring augmented reality to life. Were looking for a Prototype CNC Machinist to join the Spectacles team at Snap Inc! What youll do: Build a wide range of functional and/or cosmetic machined components in a high-mix, low volume engineering and model making environment Support and collaborate with a diverse base of internal customers including Industrial design, product design, and other engineering teams Strategically leverage external outsource and internal technician resources to deliver prototypes as appropriate, including evaluating capability, cost, and schedule to meet customer requirements. Manage all aspects of day to day shop operations including equipment operation, equipment maintenance, and management of stock materials Work closely with a tight-knit team of model-makers, fabricators, metrology specialists, and technicians. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to setup, program, and operate 5-axis CNC milling machines, manual mills/lathes, and common fabrication and metrology equipment. Ability to achieve exceptional dimensional and cosmetic requirements . Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Able to create, read, interpret, and apply technical drawings and instructions. Proficiency in CAD/CAM software, workholding strategies. In-depth working knowledge of common engineering materials, including aluminum, titanium, steel, and plastics. Ability to prioritize & execute multiple competing work orders with minimal supervision, based on customer requirements. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Stand and/or walk for extended periods of time. .Perform repetitive motions, including using hands, wrists and arms Minimum Qualifications: 5 years experience programming and producing high quality parts in a prototype environment using advanced 5-axis machine tools. Proficiency with shop and prototyping tools, such as band saw, table saw, & drill press. Associates degree in machining or equivalent additional professional experience. This role requires up to 5 days a week in person presence at our Santa Monica office. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or manufacturing discipline. Experience managing outsourcing partners. Mastercam CAD/CAM software experience. Experience using Haas CNC Machines. Experience with additive manufacturing methods including (SLA, Polyjet, MJF, etc.). A portfolio or examples of previous work demonstrating a range of machining capabilities, particularly functional and cosmetic parts. Compensation In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidates starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future. Zone A (CA, WA, NYC): The base salary range for this position is $98,000-$146,000 annually. Zone B: The base salary range for this position is $93,000-$139,000 annually. Zone C: The base salary range for this position is $83,000-$124,000 annually. This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
