Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. Responsibilities: LLE is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical engineer to support experimental operations through data-driven analysis, technical evaluation, and hands-on operation and testing. This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong STEM background who enjoys problem-solving, working with technical equipment, and collaborating across engineering teams. The successful candidate must be willing to work shift assignments 12 times per week, including evening hours, to support operational needs and testing schedules. We are looking for someone who is excited to learn, exceptionally reliable, and attentive to detail. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Completing qualification and standing watch in the operation of highly specialized equipment for supporting operations on the Omega laser facility. Performing maintenance per procedure and troubleshooting equipment issues as well as providing oversight to junior operators Analyzing maintenance effectiveness and identifying improved methods to perform process. Rewriting procedures accordingly. Qualifying as a NYS Radiation Worker. Maintaining radiological containment areas. Performing advanced calibration procedures Creating and updating system documentation and procedures. Participating in system upgrade projects providing support of aspects of the project under the supervision of a project manager Serving as instrument specialist for system hardware and diagnostic systems Performing duties off normal hours as scheduled. Working with Engineering groups to resolve complicated system issues MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience in a technical position required Or equivalent combination of education and experience Ability to lift 50 lbs Must obtain a security clearance KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Excellent verbal and written communication Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics Strong interpersonal skills suitable for working in a team-based environment Have experience with design, integration, and repairs of mechanical systems (including vacuum or pressurized systems) Have experience with using lasers and handling optical components Have experience performing radiological management activities. Have experience using control software or working with PLC control systems. Are Proficient in Microsoft Office with the ability to learn additional software.
