The Opportunity Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is part of Abbotts Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies to support diagnostic testing which provides important information for treatment and management of diseases and other conditions. The position of Analytical Chemist II is within our Toxicology business unit located in Pomona, California. This role performs qualitative and quantitative analyses of compounds in biological samples; conducts measurements of in-process and final product; conducts research to develop or improve analytical techniques, methodology, procedures, and investigates application of instruments in analysis. What Youll Work On Performs quantitative analytical testing using potentially complex methods, procedures and equipment. Generate analysis reports. Provides quality control specifications to ensure process consistency, quality and optimal yield performance. Perform the daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly maintenance of laboratory equipment and maintain maintenance logbooks. LC-MS/MS and GC-MS operator. Extraction chemist for multiple matrices. Troubleshoot instruments and lab equipment. Assist with quality control and quality assurance practices. Assist with SOP updates and modifications. Participate in proficiency testing. Establish or revise procedures. Provide training and development of newly hired personnel on all the different aspects of testing and laboratory maintenance. Maintain a neat and organized workplace. Ensure materials are appropriately labeled, approved for use and in enough quantity to complete required tasks. Works independently using discretion and best judgment while coordinating work efforts with other colleagues. Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the companys policies and practices. Understands and is aware of the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of their specific job. Has awareness of device defects that may occur in their area of responsibility, including product design, verification and validation, manufacturing and testing activities. Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies. Demonstrates commitment to the development, implementation and effectiveness of Quality Management System per ISO, FDA, and other regulatory agencies. Perform other duties & projects as assigned. Required Qualifications BS degree in chemistry, biology or related technical field Two to five years of experience in laboratory experience preferably in analytical chemistry, LCMS, GCMS Using scientific notation to convert units of mass, volume, and molarity Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) Ability to follow detailed instructions, maintains accurate records and notes, and carries out assignments in a thorough, conscientious fashion while adhering to safe laboratory practices Preferred Qualifications Experience with LC-MS/MS daily operations and quantitative analysis Product knowledge in medical device or diagnostics Ability to work on problems of diverse scope in which analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors Experience in exercising judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions Competencies: Analytical skills Teamwork Communication Achieving results Apply Now Learn more about our health and wellness benefits, which provide the security to help you and your family live full lives: www.abbottbenefits.com Follow your career aspirations to Abbott for diverse opportunities with a company that can help you build your future and live your best life.
