The Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appealing meals that meet residents' dietary needs while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment. In the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, the Cook may assist with overseeing daily kitchen operations. Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus and recipes Ensure meals are prepared according to resident dietary restrictions and special diets Prepare and serve food in appropriate portions Prepare pureed and modified-consistency diets as required Record and monitor food temperatures to ensure food safety compliance Maintain the kitchen and food preparation areas in a clean, sanitary, and organized manner Assist with meal service and tray preparation as needed Clean cooking equipment, workstations, and serving carts Maintain sanitizer solutions and follow infection control procedures Monitor food quality, presentation, and resident satisfaction Report resident concerns and dietary issues to nursing leadership and administration Participate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff Follow all facility, state, and federal food safety regulations Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age High school diploma or equivalent preferred Minimum of one year of cooking experience in a healthcare, hospital, skilled nursing, or long-term care setting Knowledge of therapeutic diets and dietary restrictions ServSafe Certification required or willingness to obtain and maintain certification Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) preferred Must remain in good standing with applicable health and regulatory agencies What Makes You a Great Fit Experience preparing meals for seniors and healthcare populations Understanding of special diets and nutrition requirements Friendly, professional, and customer-service oriented Strong organizational and time-management skills Dependable and team-focused Compassion for an underserved population Apply Today Join a team that values your contributions and gives you the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents every day.
