Agency Adult Correction Division COO - Operations Job Classification Title Correctional Case Manager (S) Position Number 60061565 Grade NC07 About Us The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Description of Work Salary Range - 35,984.00 - 62,971.00 This position is located at Tyrrell Prison Work Farm in Columbia NC. Employees in this class carry a caseload of offenders, which involves supportive counseling, conducting assessments, developing case plans, answering, and following up on offender questions and problems and making recommendations to classification committee for a male minimum custody. facility. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Employees also assist in major dynamic programs or coordinate major or specialized programs for the rehabilitation of offenders such as offenders work assignments, education or recreation, as well as transition planning and coordinating. Employees in this class, plan and coordinate transition (re-entry) prior to parole or release into the community. Effective verbal and written communication with other staff, offenders and the general public. Be capable of defending oneself against attack by violent persons. Work under stressful conditions caused by direct contact with incarcerated offenders. Conduct continuous visual and audio surveillance of assigned work area. Prepare written reports and forms which accurately reflect information reviewed from various screens. Review, analyze and evaluate interventions and behavior data gathered from interviews, written documentation, and personal observation. Perform crisis interventions and routine counseling to include suicide prevention. This position requires basic keyboarding skills and the ability to learn and use the OPUS computer system. Associates degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Public Safety; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Necessary Special Qualifications Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
