Job Description Position Overview The Solar Applications Project Engineer will be responsible for the evaluation and implementation of owner furnished equipment across Invenergys solar development and construction pipeline. Solar Applications Engineers act as the technical subject matter experts on photovoltaic modules, solar power conversion systems, and racking and tracking technologies for Invenergys solar construction projects. The position will be based in Chicago, Illinois, and will require travel up to 25% of the time. This role reports to the Applications Engineering Manager. Responsibilities: Equipment Technical Expertise Act as module, inverter, and racking/tracker technology subject matter expert on behalf of Invenergys solar project teams. Project Support Facilitate implementation of owner furnished equipment on Invenergys solar projects. Advise on technology assumptions for Invenergys development projects. Support origination and project management teams reviewing off-take requirements and specifications for major equipment. Support contracting efforts for equipment supply, EPC, and offtake agreements by maintaining and reviewing relevant technical exhibits. Coordinate with suppliers technical teams to ensure that technology selections are suitable for Invenergys construction projects. Translate supplier technology specifications into appropriate site designs and/or performance modeling. Support on-site equipment installation and commissioning through end of construction. Support troubleshooting of owner furbished equipment if issues arise. Collaborate with construction teams to bring lessons learned feedback into future technical specifications and project/portfolio sourcing strategy. Manufacturing Quality Control - Coordinate with suppliers, testing laboratories, independent engineering firms, and other third parties to perform performance and extended reliability testing of products. Track supplier production for assigned construction projects. Minimum Qualifications: Relevant bachelors degree in engineering, physical sciences, or related technical discipline. 3+ years of experience in the renewable energy industry and demonstrated interest in the field. Understanding of product design, plant design, manufacturing processes, and general PV plant construction. Domestic travel required. Drivers license required. Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in a relevant physical science discipline is a plus. Data analysis and visualization skills. Familiarity with energy modeling software including PVSyst is a plus. Experience performing quality audits is a plus. Ability to multi-task and manage multiple deliverables and projects concurrently. Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills. Desire to work in a dynamic environment alongside people with multiple interests and backgrounds. Base Pay $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 USD Annual Bonus: 15% The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills. In addition to base pay, the total annual compensation package may also include eligibility to participate in our bonus program(s) which are designed to reward individual and company performance.
