Job Summary: The School of Rehabilitative and Health Sciences is seeking a Sports Physical Therapy Resident to provide sports and orthopedic patient-centered physical therapy services through RegisCARES, the Universitys on-campus faculty practice. This one-year position is expected to work approximately 40 hours per week with 20 hours of practice occurring within RegisCARES as well as with a professional sports organization and contributing to teaching responsibilities within the Regis University School of Rehabilitative and Health Sciences Doctor of Physical Therapy program. The Sports Physical Therapy Resident will deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to students, faculty, staff, athletes, and community members while collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals, faculty, and clinical partners. Responsibilities include supporting sports and orthopedic rehabilitation services, assisting with injury prevention and performance initiatives, participating in academic instruction and student mentorship within the School of Rehabilitative and Health Sciences Doctor of Physical Therapy program. This position is part of an American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education approved developing Sports Physical Therapy Residency program, and employment is contingent upon admission into the residency program. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Provides skilled physical therapy evaluation, treatment, and education to patients across assigned clinical sites. Delivers care in compliance with the Colorado Physical Therapy Practice Act, including maintaining professional competence, current licensure, BLS/CPR certification, EMT/ATC/ERA or equivalent licensure/certification and appropriate documentation. Communicates effectively with patients, students, families, and healthcare team members. Adheres to all policies and procedures of the School of Rehabilitation and Health Sciences, RegisCARES, including clinical, documentation, and compliance standards. Maintains accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation. Establishes and maintain professional, collaborative relationships with patients, staff, faculty, students and peer clinicians. Provides instruction and facilitated learning within lecture and/or lab settings within entry-level DPT education. Evaluates student assignments, laboratory competencies, applied skill assessments, and examinations in a timely and consistent manner, providing clear, constructive, and professional feedback that supports student learning and development. Fosters an inclusive, respectful learning environment that promotes critical thinking, ethical practice, cultural humility, and professional identity formation. Collaborates with the course coordinator and other ranked faculty to ensure curricular consistency, quality assurance, and continuous improvement aligned with CAPTE standards. Working Conditions: Clinical work is performed in outpatient clinic environments. Work may occur in teaching labs, lecture rooms and zoom classrooms. Coverage includes athletic fields, sporting events, and athletic training rooms. Typical physical demands of an outpatient physical therapy setting. Required Qualifications Education Graduate of a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist education program OR internationally educated physical therapist licensed to practice in the United States. Licenses or Certifications Current, active Colorado Physical Therapist license. Current BLS/CPR certification. By start date, must have current certification in Basic Life Support AND Emergency Medical Response (EMR) OR Emergency Response for Athlete (ERA) (waived if applicant has current certification or licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician, certification or licensure as a Paramedic, or current certification as an Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Credentialing (NATABOC) certified within the past 10 years) Experience Clinical practice or internship in orthopedic or sports clinic.
