Our location in Sylmar, CA, currently has an opportunity for a Senior RF Engineer. The Senior RF Engineer; oversees design and testing of the RF communications hardware within Abbotts cardiac implantable medical devices. Leads development of the product PCB layout, RF antenna, evaluation boards, test fixtures, and tools. Applies engineering and scientific principles to the evaluation and solution of technical problems. Exercises technical judgment in planning, organizing, performing, coordinating and/or directing engineering work. Performs engineering studies. Remains abreast of and consults on technical advancements. Identifies and routinely uses the most effective and cost-efficient practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness. WHAT YOULL DO Lead RF development activities including defining requirements, specifications, design & simulation, risk analysis and characterization testing. One or more of the following: RF PCB layout, antenna design, RF system design, link budget analysis Conducts evaluations, tests and analyses related to feasibility and function. Performs troubleshooting and fault isolation activities on a variety of breadboards and hybrids. Conducts measurements specified in design verification plans, documents and tabulates results, and provides engineering test reports. Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOULL BRING Required Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related engineering field. Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience in design and test of RF communication systems. Experience in RF circuit and PCB layout simulations. Experience using lab tools such as Spectrum Analyzers, Vector Network Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, etc. Demonstrated personal computer skills such as Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio (or equivalents). Demonstrated ability to understand and comply with applicable FDA regulations and Company operating procedures, processes, policies and tasks. Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate to all levels of the organization. Preferred Masters Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related engineering field. Preferred Skills/Technologies: PCB layout simulation (Keysight ADS, Cadence AWR) , antenna simulation (CST, Ansys HFSS), programming/scripting (C, C++, Python, or equivalent) Working knowledge of electromagnetic fields and human body interactions Knowledge of wireless communications standards such as Bluetooth, Wifi, MICS Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment. Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization. Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
