Job Title: Skating Instructor Pay Details: The starting hourly rate for this position is $32.00 per hour. This position is responsible for teaching skating skills in groups, supporting company or facility events, and promoting The Rinks while embodying the companys values and mission. Responsibilities Instruct group classes in various formats, including our Learn-to-Skate Program, Home School Program, community classes, facility and company-sponsored events, figure skating camps, etc. Follow the facilitys Learn-to-Skate curriculum (based on U.S. Figure Skatings Learn to Skate USA model) and agree to attend PowerPlay sessions if teaching LTS or other Group Classes (Academy) Assist in the production and promotion of facility shows and competitions Provide positive, constructive feedback when evaluating skaters Maintain a professional and ethical approach to a growing clientele Meet all company standards and comply with instructor guidelines Interact with customers in a welcoming and professional manner while promoting The Rinks values Communicate facility and company program information to guests and support the companys pursuit of excellence in all areas of figure skating, hockey, and recreational skating Provide recommendations for skater advancement through the programs offered in The Rinks facilities Other duties as assigned Skills Experience in the sport of figure skating, including competitive history, show experience, and/or coaching experience Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. Figure Skating, Learn to Skate USA, and the Professional Skaters Association Actively pursuing education opportunities within the sport and has a PSA Basic Accreditation For an LTS Instructor and Junior Instructor (no private lessons): Has current Learn To Skate USA Instructor Membership OR current USFS Coach Compliance and Membership For Skating Instructors (private lessons): Has current U.S. Figure Skating Coach Compliance (See U.S. Figure Skating website for a list of requirements) Present a consistent, professional, motivating, and enthusiastic teaching style and able to direct a class efficiently using time management skills Able to maintain accurate records Passionate about growing the sport of figure skating and involved in the growth of the sport Must possess outstanding interpersonal and communication (verbal & written) skills, including enjoying interacting with guests and creating a welcoming environment for skaters Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals with varied personalities and at different levels High School Diploma/GED preferred but not required Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and early mornings/evenings Able to communicate The Rinks vision and commitment to quality service, products, and entertainment Is a service-minded, self-starter who is highly motivated and possesses characteristics of energy, enthusiasm, assertiveness, drive, and a sense of fun Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent Certifications Required Learn to Skate Membership or US Figure Skating Coach Compliance Experience Required - 0-1 Year MR2025 The Rinks Development Program launched in 2009, and consists of seven local hockey and skating facilities throughout Southern California: six ice rinks - Anaheim ICE, Lakewood ICE, Westminster ICE, Yorba Linda ICE, Poway ICE and Great Park ICE, as well as one inline facility - Irvine Inline. The Rinks offer a variety of hockey and skating programs for participants of all ages and ability levels. The Rinks is home to thousands of youth and adult hockey players as well as recreational skaters to competitive Olympic figure skaters.
