Leidos Defense Systems Manufacturing is seeking a Shop Floor Expeditor to join our Platform Integration team that is standardizing production processes across multiple sites in North Alabama. The Shop Floor Expeditor serves as the execution arm of the Production Control organization by ensuring manufacturing orders (MOs) flow efficiently through production from release to completion. This position provides daily shop floor support by coordinating with production, inventory, planning, scheduling, quality, engineering, and purchasing to identify and remove execution barriers before they impact delivery commitments. Working at the intersection of production planning and manufacturing execution, the Shop Floor Expeditor continuously monitors released manufacturing orders for material shortages, routing delays, aging operations, transaction accuracy, and schedule adherence. The position leverages Costpoint, Dynafact, Solumina, and/or Power BI reports to identify execution risks while maintaining a strong physical presence on the manufacturing floor to verify system information and facilitate timely issue resolution. This role is responsible for maintaining the feedback loop between shop floor execution and production planning and scheduling by ensuring manufacturing status is accurately reflected within enterprise systems and communicating emerging risks that may require planning or scheduling adjustments. Apply and share your resume with us today! Primary Responsibilities Monitor released manufacturing orders to ensure continuous movement through production operations. Coordinate movement of work-in-process (WIP) between work centers. Coordinate with stockroom personnel to resolve inventory availability issues. Facilitate inventory movements, material staging, substitutions, and shortage escalation activities. Promote timely and accurate manufacturing transactions within Costpoint and Solumina. Ensure manufacturing status accurately reflects actual shop floor conditions. Review dispatch lists, work center queues, and aging manufacturing orders. Maintain production boards and visual management systems supporting daily operations. Provide execution status updates to planners, schedulers, and production leadership. Serve as the primary Production Control liaison supporting daily manufacturing execution at certain work center areas. Basic Qualifications Bachelors degree with less than 2 years of experience in manufacturing, production control, material planning, inventory management, scheduling, or shop floor operations or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered. Experience working within various ERP systems; preferably Deltek Costpoint. Experience supporting production execution in a high-mix manufacturing environment preferred. Capable of working in MS Excel. Must be a resident of or willing to relocate to the Huntsville / North Alabama area. Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance OR meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance. Preferred Qualifications Experience with production control systems such as MES or MRP/APS; preferably Solumina and Dynafact DMS. Fork lift or material handling experience.
