Job Description Summary Come help us develop breakthrough medicines for cardiovascular disease! We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join our in vivo pharmacology team in the Cardiovascular and Metabolic (CVM) Disease Area at Novartis BioMedical Research. As an In Vivo Pharmacologist, you will work independently and collaboratively in an inter-disciplinary setting to execute experiments in preclinical models, analyze data, write study reports and give oral presentations to support drug discovery, while broadening your knowledge in the field. This position will be located at Cambridge, MA and will not have the ability to be located remote. #LI-Onsite Job Description Key responsibilities: Independently lead the design, execution, analysis, and documentation of pre-clinical in vivo experiments in rodent metabolic disease models Plan and perform pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) studies, including compound dosing (SC, PO, IV), blood sample and tissue collection, and measuring body weight, food intake, and body composition by NMR and/or DEXA Perform biochemical analyses on samples Assist in data analysis and interpretation Present results in lab and department meetings Independently lead studies Role Requirements: Bachelors degree in relevant scientific field and 3-5+ years of related laboratory experience Masters degree with related laboratory experience, preferred Experience in handling, dosing (SC, PO, IV), and phenotyping rodent models of disease, ideally with an emphasis on cardiometabolic disorders Proven expertise in In Vivo experimental design and execution Metabolic disease drug discovery experience desirable Experience in working with a multidisciplinary team of scientists Basic knowledge of statistics and experience with common statistical software for biomedical research Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) Strong written, oral and record keeping skills The salary for this position is expected to range between Senior Scientist I: $85,400- $158,600/year | Senior Scientist II: $93,800-$174,00/year. The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors. Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards.
