Job Profile Summary Under limited supervision, this position is to provide direct service and support to prospective, current and former international students through academic advisement and information regarding the Colleges programs and services, admissions and registration, transcript evaluation, orientation, assessment of learning, facilitating student engagement in academic and career planning activities, student success skills, college policies and procedures, and student co- and extra-curricular activities offered at the College. Minimum Education: Bachelors degree required, Master's degree in Counseling or Education preferred. An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered Minimum Experience/Training: Six years of relevant experience. Essential Functions: Daily - Responsible for providing comprehensive academic and career planning services for international students from the point of admission through graduation. Such activities include engaging students in academic and career planning assessments, interpreting those assessments, assisting students in the development of an educational plan that addresses their interests, skills, and abilities, and assisting students in clarifying their career, major, and academic goals. The personnel in this position have a complete understanding of the 8 Pathways and associated college programs of study. Additionally, this position is responsible for facilitating learning opportunities about college policies and procedures, student success skills and resources, and student life opportunities. Daily - Responsible for collecting, reviewing and assessing applications, and related documents for compliance and eligibility for admission. Determines if testing is required and informs student. Provides routine advice and guidance regarding the application process, admissions policies, and document requirements. Responds to email/telephone inquiries from students about advisement, registration, graduation, transfer information and other procedures or policies at BC. Sets-up, updates and continuously improves current and evolving web- based/electronic advising activities. Daily - Reviews, prepares and maintains accurate and comprehensive student files for academic progress, success, retention, and to ensure deadlines are met for completing various coursework requirements, graduation requirements, and other specific program requirements. Daily - Assists the Senior Director, by providing lead assistance of daily functions to Admissions Processors, Admissions & Registration Specialists, Enrollment Services Officers and Transcript Evaluators. Daily Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) assisting and overseeing enrolled F and M students to maintain their nonimmigrant status while attending Broward College. A DSO must follow federal laws and regulations as required by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). Other - Schedules and monitors First Year Experience sessions and advising appointments, as applicable. Assists with updates and revisions to student services and academic affairs materials and multimedia presentations. Conducts/facilitates group advising and registration sessions for students. Other - Reviews transcripts to ensure eligibility for admission to a specific college or program including unofficial evaluation of transfer credits and applicability of academic credit to program requirements. Monitors the receipt of all applicable official transcripts and collaborates with the transcript evaluators for the timely official evaluation of official transcripts. Other - Identifies and delivers strategies for students to enhance the student experience and contribute to improved retention and graduation rates for Broward College students. Collaborates with all areas of Broward College to support a positive, engaged student experience. Other - Coordinates and facilitates outreach activities in the areas of learning strategies, academic and career planning. Other - Reviews caseload of students to determine if there are registration barriers prior to the opening of the next terms registration period, communicates with students and departments as needed to resolve barriers prior to registration. Other Assists prospective students, applicants and parents to understand the education system in the United States and the international student application process. Other - Performs other duties as assigned.
