Team Description: The Electric Distribution Planning team ensures the safe, efficient, and resilient performance of the distribution grid. Using CYME software and engineering best practices, the team performs comprehensive assessmentsincluding voltage, thermal, and coordination studiesto evaluate system reliability and the integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DER). Working at the intersection of engineering analysis, system design, and strategic grid development, the team plays a critical role in modernizing and automating AVANGRIDs distribution infrastructure. Job Summary: General responsibilities include, conducting detailed system studies such as voltage analysis, thermal ratings, and reliability assessments, including N-1 contingency evaluations. It requires evaluating complex distributed energy resource (DER) and customer load interconnections across various voltage levels, supporting System Impact Studies (SIS), and assisting in planning approvals. The position also includes contributing to substation and line design, developing budget estimates, and updating hosting capacity maps. Additional responsibilities include identifying system deficiencies, recommending automation solutions, monitoring project schedules, coordinating documentation, and using tools like CYME, GIS (ArcFM), SAP, and load data systems for analysis and modeling.
