Hours of operation are 6am 3:30pm, Monday through Thursday, and every other Friday 6am 2:30pm. Who We Are & What Youll Do Denver Parks and Recreation (DPR) boasts one of the most diverse, expansive, and historic park and recreation systems in the West with 22 mountain parks and 260 urban parks, including 24 lakes, 80,000 trees, more than 80 miles of trails, 34 designated parkways, 10 off-leash dog parks, 29 pools, 30 recreation centers, 150 playgrounds, 300 athletic fields, and 8 public golf courses. DPR staff provide high-quality, safe, and meaningful programs, activities, and places that promote active lifestyles and improve quality of life in Denver. When you join DPR, you will play a vital role in maintaining Denvers extensive system of parks and recreation centers and have a hand in shaping the future health and well-being of our city. The City and County of Denvers Department of Parks and Recreation - Building Maintenance is seeking one full time Painter to join their team. The Painter position is responsible for both the interior and exterior facility painting needs for Denver Parks and Recreation and is a dedicated member of a team focusing on maintenance of all structures, trails, and hardscape within Denvers park system. As a Painter you will: Maintain repair, and remodel painting on a variety of facility surfaces using various painting tools, equipment and painting application techniques Apply paints, varnishes, stains, enamels and lacquers to walls, floors, woodwork and fixtures using appropriate tools and techniques Respond to service calls by assessing needs and providing solutions Provide estimates for labor, equipment, materials and overall cost Prepare, clean, and maintain all painting tools and equipment Prepare surfaces prior to paint application Mix paint and other materials to prepare the right color or texture Maintain records and prepare daily activity reports Participate in sign making and refurbishing, stenciling, and exterior striping Layout and install pavement markings in parking lots Participate in graffiti removal May perform basic traffic control lane closures May participate in snow removal activities Perform other general related duties as assigned What Youll Bring We value diversity of ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status, sexual identity, gender, religion, language, ability, and experience and exemplify this through the makeup of our team at all levels. Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics: Experience in ADA requirements in layout and marking of parking lots and cross walks as well as using different types of stripers Knowledge of materials and methods used in pavement marking Experience installing and making signs per ADA requirements Experience making and using stencils for hardscape marking Great attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication Required Minimum Qualifications Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate Experience Requirement: Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in the painting trade. Or three (3) years of maintenance painting experience Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements Licensure: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
