Job Summary This role is part time - evenings Essential Functions Communicate patient diet orders and meal updates with the Nutrition Services Data Center to ensure accurate meal preparation and delivery. Verify that each patient receives the correct meal tray based on current diet orders and nutritional requirements. Obtain meal trays for new admissions and patients whose diets have changed. Deliver and retrieve patient meal trays in a timely, courteous, and professional manner. Prepare meal trays by adding beverages, desserts, nourishments, condiments, and garnishes while ensuring proper presentation. Assist patients during meal service by opening containers, arranging trays, and providing other non-clinical meal assistance as needed. Distribute daily menus, explain meal selection options, and assist patients who require help completing menu selections. Provide exceptional customer service by utilizing Excellent Encounter standards and responding promptly to patient needs and concerns. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of pantry, galley, and nourishment areas following department and infection prevention standards. Complete daily and scheduled cleaning assignments according to established procedures. Monitor, inventory, stock, and rotate nourishments, supplements, and unit supplies using First In, First Out (FIFO) principles. Remove expired food items and maintain appropriate inventory levels for patient care areas. Communicate observations regarding a patient's appetite, food intake, or ability to eat to the Clinical Dietitian or appropriate care team member. Build positive working relationships with nursing staff, dietitians, and fellow team members to support efficient patient care. Assist with orienting and training new department employees as assigned. Follow all food safety, sanitation, infection prevention, and organizational policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience Previous experience in food service, hospitality, healthcare, or customer service preferred. Experience working in a hospital or healthcare environment is a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to interact compassionately and professionally with patients of all ages and backgrounds. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention practices. Ability to accurately follow diet orders and maintain attention to detail. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team. Ability to stand, walk, push meal carts, and lift food service supplies throughout the workday. Demonstrates an understanding of age-specific patient needs and provides meal service appropriate to each patient's developmental stage and nutritional requirements.
