Position Information The Digital Content Student Assistant, under general supervision, will support Texas A&M AgriLife Marketing and Communications event promotion process from start to finish. The student worker will create event advances, select appropriate image(s) to accompany both the event advance and calendar entry, upload event advance and images to WordPress, develop calendar entry and aid in the distribution of event advance to media channels via Cision. This role is open only to current Texas A&M University students. Day-to-day activities will vary and you may be asked to help with other tasks and working collaboratively with team members on projects. All AgriLife Marketing and Communications student workers complete a project aligned with the AgriLife Marketing and Communications strategic plan, creating a small-scale campaign or initiative using the PESO model. Projects vary by role and may be implemented in real-world applications, providing portfolio-ready work. Key Responsibilities Draft clear and concise event advances from information submitted for inclusion on AgriLife Today and the LiveWhale calendar. If needed, coordinate with individuals who submit events to request additional information. Upload information to the LiveWhale calendar, ensuring accuracy of event time, location, description and tags. Select photos from the Marketing and Communications photo shelter for inclusion with calendar entry and event advance. Resize selected photos to meet guidelines for the LiveWhale calendar. Upload event advances for publication to AgriLife Today using the WordPress platform. Once events are published to the calendar and added to AgriLife Today, send links to the individual who submitted the event. Aid in distribution of event advances to relevant media using the Cison software platform. Use of teams content management systems effectively for project management. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Current undergraduate or graduate student at Texas A&M University pursuing bachelors degree in Communications, Digital Media, Journalism or related field. Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills. Familiarity with WordPress and the LiveWhale calendar platform. Ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines. Professional verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Coursework or experience in communications, journalism, marketing or related fields. Understanding of AP style and accessibility best practices. Familiarity with Texas A&M Universitys LiveWhale platform.
