About the team We are a team of skilled accounting professionals within Zillows Controller organization who value collaboration, accountability, and a positive team culture We operate in a fast-paced and innovative environment and work directly with teams throughout the Finance organization (including Financial Reporting, Tax, Technical Accounting, Revenue, and FP&A), as well as Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Corporate Applications teams across various product lines. Our team is specifically responsible for completing month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules. We also participate in the annual audit and quarterly reviews performed by our auditors, which includes conducting walkthroughs and preparing PBCs. We additionally support the finance integration of new business initiatives by developing new processes and managing related general ledger close activities. About the role Zillow Group is seeking a Senior Corporate Accountant to join the Corporate Accounting team. Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Accounting, this role supports key activities within the corporate accounting function. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in U.S. GAAP, experience with international accounting, and a proactive mindset. Specifically, the role will: Lead components of the month-end and quarter-end close process, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules Support international accounting and reporting for foreign subsidiaries, including ownership of related journal entries and reporting Perform and review flux analysis for operating expenses and balance sheet accounts, investigating and explaining variances to management Partner with Tax, Financial Reporting, and Technical Accounting on matters related to international operations, compliance, and reporting requirements Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and documentation to enhance efficiency, scalability, and controls Own and operate SOX controls as needed, including evaluating control design and execution and supporting audit requests Serve as a point of contact for internal and external auditors for assigned areas Build strong relationships with Finance and business stakeholders and provide accounting guidance as needed This role has been categorized as a Remote position. Remote employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions. In California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $83,200.00 - $132,800.00 annually. This base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations. In Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Vermont the standard base pay range for this role is $79,000.00 - $126,200.00 annually. The base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations. In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. Employees in this role will not be paid below the salary threshold for exempt employees in the state where they reside. Who you are BA/BS with a concentration in Accounting or Finance Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, including public accounting and/or experience at a mid-to-large-sized tech or high-growth company Experience supporting month-end close processes in a complex environment Experience with international accounting, intercompany transactions, and/or global entities CPA preferred Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets; experience with Workday or other ERP systems preferred Audit or internal audit experience preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain accounting matters to non-accountants Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Proactive, self-directed, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment Get to know us At Zillow, were reimagining how people movethrough the real estate market and through their careers.
