Employment Type: Full time Shift: Evening Shift Description: Hours: 40 hours a week Shift: 3-11:30pm, Mon-Fri Department: Central Sterile Processing Location: Chelsea Hospital Minimum rate of pay: Minimum of $18.55 per hour Position Summary Cleans, assembles, wraps and sterilizes instrumentation for the Hospital. Assembles case carts and maintains supplies within Instrument Care. Required Education, Experience and Certification/Licensure 1) Minimum of high school diploma 2) Completion from a sterile processing technology or related program is required. Certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician is required within 2 years of employment. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Maintains knowledge to perform the duties of the job. Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management. Demonstrates self-directed learning. Provides quality patient care by considering the age specific, development and cultural needs through competent clinical practice. Demonstrates unit/area competencies. Identifies and assists in resolution of problems related to safety, sanitation and maintenance of the environment. Practices effective communication in all interactions (patient, visitor, co-worker, etc.) Promotes a positive work environment by demonstrating teamwork. Demonstrates knowledge and competence for the care and preparation of instruments and supplies. Demonstrates knowledge and competence of aseptic and sterile processing of instrumentation. Provides quality control monitoring per infection control policies to assure sterilization of instruments. Documents department related information according to Hospital and Department standards. Maintains department supplies in a cost-effective manner. Assembles Case Carts as required.
