Agency State Bureau of Investigation Division SBI Office of the Director Job Classification Title Grants Administrator II (S) Position Number 65035229 Grade NC12 About Us The State Bureau of Investigations mission is to serve Sheriffs, Police Chiefs, and District Attorneys as well as State and Federal partners, by investigating crimes and providing technical assistance in order to increase public safety for the citizens of the state of North Carolina. The SBI does so by conducting criminal investigations of allegations in areas of jurisdiction including narcotics, arson, election laws, misuse of state property, environmental crimes, human trafficking, child sexual abuse in day care centers, and threats made against public officials. The SBI provides support to local agencies related to computer crime investigations, use of force investigations, deaths in custody, crime scenes, financial crimes, missing and endangered persons, public corruption, cold cases, K9, special response team, bomb squad, and air wing. The SBI serves as North Carolina's repository of information on criminal history records, fingerprint identification, expungements, sex offender registry, and concealed handgun permits. The SBI manages the North Carolina Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAAC), which is the fusion center for the state of North Carolina, as well as the Behavioral Threat Assessment Unit, which assesses and manages threats of mass violence. Description of Work The Grants Administrator II manages all aspects of grant funding for the North Carolina Center for Safer Schools (CFSS) and is a Non-Sworn/Administrative position. The CFSS is designed to address the problem of school and youth-related violence and serve as a customer-focused information center for research, training, and technical assistance related to school safety, crisis prevention and response. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of the mission and inter-workings of the CFSS and the Task Force on School Safety and considerable research and writing skills are required. This position will manage the federal funding the CFSS receives, but also will manage the $70M plus monies CFSS receives from the NC General Assembly to be allocated to public school units. This position is responsible for assisting the executive director in the divisions grant initiatives to include researching and locating sources of funding, collaborating with partners to develop grant applications for programs that further the mission of the CFSS, and assisting in managing grant reporting requirements. The Grants Administrator position will work closely with state school safety specialists. The primary focus will be on assisting the executive director in building capacity for districts that need assistance due to limited resources. This position will expected to spend 25% of time traveling across the state to support compliance duties.
