Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. Responsibilities: Provides daily monitoring of grants and contracts to ensure expenses are being paid according to contract. Reviews, analyzes and negotiates standard sponsor grants and subcontracts on behalf of the University and investigators. Interprets regulations and guidelines of program funding for moderately complex grants and contracts, and prepares renewals and periodic reports for grant agencies. Partners with sponsors, clients, and departments on pre/post award sponsored research activities required for the submission, acceptance, management and closing of certain sponsored activities. Assists with pre-award applications and may assist with locating sources of outside funding. Participates in contract closeouts. Ensures compliance with sponsor terms, University policies/procedures and federal regulations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Supports faculty and fellows with the development, review, submission, and renewal of various types of sponsored projects from a variety of sponsors, including NIH, private foundations, government and industry. Develops grant budgets and lends expertise to refine budget justifications and various components of grant applications. Navigates various proposal processes and electronic proposal systems and acts as a liaison with other departments/schools or universities to obtain required application documents for collaborative proposals or sub-awards. Works with administrative offices on award acceptance and project account set up, including for sub-awards. Performs accounting activities relative to grants once awards have been initiated. Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of grant related invoicing, expenditures, payments, requisitions, payroll and other financial transactions. Oversees and coordinates the accurate entry of data into account systems to enable timely and accurate financial reporting. Performs monthly financial reports such as forecasts, budget variances, and grant expenditures. Creates a comprehensive report and presents and communicates information clearly and effectively verbally, in writing, and in graphic form. Manages the financial responsibilities for awards. Reviews total grant financials annually or at project end as required. Performs all purchasing request forms for faculty and staff for both capital and non-capital equipment. Collaborates with faculty and lab personnel to determine financial accounts and spend codes and ensure accurate accounting processes are being administered. Analyzes account purchases and advises faculty on purchases and account status. Devises methods of reporting to faculty and prepares appropriate purchasing documents for purchases. Performs approval of transactions for card charges and allocating to correct accounts. Reconciles all posted bank transactions weekly. Prepares financial budget for submission to outside agencies, per faculty's request. Assembles post award reports for faculty during close out process. Assists in the preparation and submission of project proposals. As assigned, assumes responsibility for special projects and studies. Assists in the development or coordination of departmental policy, educational programs, and represents the department in PI and/or sponsor meetings. Other duties as assigned.
