We need a person who treats every player with genuine respect even if their drive ends up in the tall grass. Doing the right thing stays our focus even when you are working solo at the far end of the course. Your shift centers on making the customer experience excellent by keeping water coolers full and the first tee running on time. This role demands a professional attitude while handling heavy range pickers or helping a golfer with a question. Must be 16 years old by time of hire The starting hiring rate for this role is $17.00/hour. This is classified as VHNE (Variable Hour Non-Benefit Employee), where the selected candidate will work less than 29 hours per week. This position does not provide medical benefits. Applicants will be contacted only when a position need is identified, and their qualifications match the position's needs. ** The selected applicant(s) will undergo the following conditions: Background Check (if over 18) Position overview: Performs a variety of manual and skilled functions associated with daily golf shop outside services at one of the city owned golf courses. Primary focus of position is making sure all outdoor amenities and services are provided to customers in a professional manner aimed at maximizing the overall customer experience. The Golf Division operates the courses as a division of the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Assist customers with inquiries and create a welcome environment Keep staging area stocked with carts and ensure used carts are removed and cleaned Monitor driving range and ball machine to ensure proper setup and sufficient supply of clean range balls Operate range picker when range ball supplies are running low or when necessary to do a clean pick Pick up trash around clubhouse and out on course when required Ensure water coolers on course have sufficient supply of clean drinking water Provide marshaling services to monitor flow of play on course and address problem situations Provide starter services on first tee to ensure timely start of all scheduled groups Maintain communication with pro shop to address any operational issues that need addressed Provide support for various tournaments, league, or other special event activities Performs other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered Education: No minimum requirement Experience: No minimum requirement Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience and knowledge about the game and preferably experience in a golf related job Skills: Good interpersonal skills that allow for friendly interactions with the public and employees Good communication skills both orally and written Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels of organization Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy Ability to solve problems, negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner Licenses and Certifications Required: Colorado Drivers License WORKING CONDITIONS Essential Personnel: When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel Physical Demands: Medium work that involves lifting/carrying no more than 50 pounds with or without assistance Continuous standing and walking Frequent pushing, pulling, bending, lifting, carrying, stooping Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens Hand/foot/eye coordination for operation of radios, golf carts, range equipment and cleaning equipment Work Environment: Works primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions with access to shelter when necessary Equipment Used: Will operate golf carts regularly. Potential for operating range ball picker, ball washer, ball machine and radios Depending on tee sheet software, potential for utilizing iPad type device to assist in tracking customer flow This position may require the incumbent to use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
