Job Summary This is the entry level attorney position which uses well established legal procedures and precedents to perform a variety of professional legal functions. This position works under supervision to perform legal work requiring specialization in trial, prosecution, criminal law, or other types of legal work. Work is reviewed by higher level attorneys. Job Description Assistant City Attorney Dallas City Attorney Municipal Prosecution The Dallas City Attorneys Municipal Prosecution Section is seeking an energetic, self- motivated attorney licensed to practice in Texas and in good standing with the Texas Bar to fill a full-time position. The Prosecution Section is responsible for the criminal prosecution of Class C misdemeanors and violations of municipal ordinances in the Dallas Municipal Court. Class C misdemeanors include traffic violations, assault, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and theft, among others. The Prosecution Section also represents the City of Dallas in the following civil proceedings: Administrative adjudications in the hearing officers court, dangerous dog appeals, parking appeals, stormwater proceedings, and bond forfeitures. Applicants must possess excellent oral and written communication skills as well as a collaborative, problem solving mindset. Applicants must be currently licensed to practice law in the State of Texas, and have at least one year of experience practicing law in Texas. The City's comprehensive benefits package comes with the position. This position is exempt from the provisions applicable to civil service, pursuant to Chapter XVI, Section 9 of the Dallas City Charter.
