Agency Adult Correction Division COO - OPS - Institutions Operations Job Classification Title Maintenance/Construction Technician III (S) Position Number 60071449 Grade NC09 About Us The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Description of Work This is a position at Piedmont Correctional Institution located in Salisbury, N.C. (Rowan County), which is a Medium male prison facility housing 800 inmates. Position performs skilled work at journey level, in the maintenance, repair and /or construction of buildings and facilities. Position ensures that work performed adheres to established maintenance, repair and/or construction standards. KEY JOB DUTIES: Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on facility systems and support buildings. Work at the journeyman level in electrical. . Service and repair secondary electrical systems Repair commercial kitchen equipment. Make minor interior and exterior building repairs. Assist with repairs to HVAC and plumbing systems when needed. Supervise skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled laborers helping with assigned tasks. Support other staff performing trade work during preventive maintenance activities. Maintain systems in a safe and efficient manner. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary: $41,206-$72,113 Salary Grade:NC09 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred: Documented knowledge of methods, practices, tools and materials used in general maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment and machinery.
