Job TitleStudent Hourly Assistant (Recs- Intramural) Agency Texas A&M International University Department Recreational Sports Proposed Minimum SalaryCommensurate Job LocationLaredo, Texas Job TypeStudent Worker Job Description Job Summary Assisting Recreational Sports Intramural Staff with providing a safe, healthy, and positive environment for Intramural participants. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with implementation of proper protocol and procedures at the beginning (proper set up of all equipment) and program conclusion (securing equipment and program facility). Game management including stats, scoreboard, and officiating of Intramural events, games, or competitions to maintain standards of play and to ensure game rules are observed. Assist with implementation of emergency protocol during Intramural events. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduates. Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students. Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIUs Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP). Preferred Experience and Education Experience with game management at sporting events as well as officiating experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge and implementation of game rules, guidelines, and procedures to ensure a safe, positive, and enjoyable environment for Intramural Program participants. Knowledge and implementation of university policies as well as Rec Sports Intramural guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe, positive, and enjoyable environment for Intramural participants. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to interact effectively and professionally with participants and spectators. Must possess strong customer service skills. Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace. Work schedules are created by the department based on departmental needs but ensure it does not conflict with class schedule. Position requires strict punctuality. Promptly complete all required trainings. Submit time sheet biweekly. Some evening and weekend work may be required. Subject to funding and/or need. Pay of Rate: $8.00/hour for up to 19 hours weekly All positions are security-sensitive. Graduate Students: · Graduate students must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours per semester. · International graduate students must enroll in 9 semester credit hours in order to meet the federal immigration guidelines. · Must maintain a 3.0 TAMIU overall GPA. Students who will be graduating may enroll for less than half time for their final semester. Must submit proof of graduation.
