About the Position The purpose of this role is to provide maintenance duties for all public areas including beaches, athletic areas, parks, natural areas, neighborhood parks, and other county facilities. This includes working on maintenance projects and various record-keeping duties. Examples of job responsibilities can be found below: Clean and help maintain beaches, picnic areas, parking lots, playgrounds, and open areas in County parks, restroom facilities, and buildings Clean, plant, fertilize, irrigate, mow, trim, and maintain grounds and play areas for beaches & natural areas Cut, trim, water and fertilize general turf, trees, and bushes Remove refuse and paper from grounds and buildings Work on maintenance projects, set up and dismantle tables, chairs, and decorations associated with special functions and room/facility utilization Operate heavy equipment, light automotive equipment, UTVs, light landscape equipment, and hand tools Keep operating records, and complete material requests, service requests, and work orders Keep a schedule for maintenance work orders in assigned area(s) Perform daily safety checks and repairs as needed About the Schedule Work Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week 1st Shift: 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 2nd Shift: 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Shift assignment varies Weekends are required. You will know your schedule in advance and can plan around it Work schedules may vary due to split shifts, rotations, and/or emergencies About You Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or its equivalent -OR- the ability to obtain a GED within six (6) months from the time of hire Valid Florida Driver's License at time of hire Preferred Qualifications: Experience with small tools and lightweight maintenance equipment Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years Physical Demands: Employees must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 lbs, using a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or by working with another team member to lift/move excessive poundage of 50(+) lbs About Everything Else Starting Pay: $17.34 hr (Step 1) Our interview process could include phone interview(s), Microsoft Teams video interview(s), and/or in-person interview(s).
