As an Infrastructure Engineer Intern, You Will: Engage in hands-on assignments supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of CIBCs infrastructure technologies. Assist with setup, configuration, and maintenance of IT infrastructure components such as servers, networks, storage, and cloud environments under the guidance of senior team members. Contribute to routine infrastructure projects by supporting the implementation of hardware and software solutions in accordance with established standards and best practices. Identify, document, and help resolve technical issues; participate in root cause analysis and recommend solutions with supervision. Support the monitoring of system performance, availability, and security; assist with routine maintenance tasks to ensure reliability and compliance with internal controls. Help maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for infrastructure configurations, procedures, and incident reports to support knowledge sharing and compliance. Build effective working relationships with technical team members and stakeholders; communicate clearly and proactively seek guidance to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time. Demonstrate initiative in learning new infrastructure technologies, tools, and best practices to support team objectives and personal development. Ensure adherence to regulatory and information security standards and policies in all aspects of infrastructure management. Connect Collaborate with technology and business teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Build strong relationships with technical team members and peers. Lead discussions, listen, and ask the right questions to ensure problems/issues are identified and resolved. Grow Receive mentorship and guidance from experienced leaders. Participate in community outreach and leadership development opportunities. Complete mandatory training and employ learnings in daily activities. Who You Are Currently a junior or senior majoring in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with an expected graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027. Basic understanding of IT infrastructure concepts (e.g., servers, networks, storage, virtualization). Familiarity with asset and process management practices for IT systems. Exposure to infrastructure technologies such as Windows/Linux operating systems, network protocols, firewalls, and cloud platforms. Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a team and build constructive relationships. Digitally savvy; eager to learn and adapt to new tools, technologies, and industry trends. Client-focused and solid team player. Accountable and reliable in meeting commitments. Embrace and advocate change for optimal solutions and outcomes. Demonstrates initiative and willingness to take on new challenges in a fast-paced environment. This role has an expected hourly rate of $25.00 per hour for the State of Illinois market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position.
