Dietary Aide Part-Time Facility: Gateway Post Acute Location: Porterville, CA Pay Range: $17.08 $17.48 per hour (BOE) Status: Part-Time Department: Dietary Services General Purpose The primary purpose of the Dietary Aide position at Gateway Post Acute is to assist the Dietary Department in providing quality food service to residents. Assignments are based on the needs and activity level of each shift. The Dietary Aide reports directly to the Cook and/or Dietary Supervisor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Learn and follow food service routines within a short period of time Set up meal trays accurately and timely Strip and clean returned trays; wash dishes and utensils Assist with serving meals to residents Check and record chlorine concentration and water temperature of dishwashing machine at the beginning of the shift Monitor water temperatures during dishwashing cycles Operate and maintain the dishwasher Prepare nourishments and snacks as assigned Sweep, mop, and maintain kitchen floors Clean work surfaces, equipment, and refrigerators Remove trash and garbage according to facility procedures Store groceries in a safe, orderly, and sanitary manner Leave kitchen and work areas clean and sanitary at the end of each shift Assist the Cook or Dietary Supervisor as needed Participate in orientation and ongoing dietary training programs Work cooperatively and harmoniously with personnel in all departments Supervisory Requirements This position has no supervisory responsibilities Qualifications Education and/or Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Must obtain and maintain a Food Handlers Certificate Skills and Abilities Language Skills Ability to read technical procedures Ability to read and follow recipes Ability to communicate effectively with managers and coworkers Mathematical Skills Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems Ability to follow written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions Physical Demands Frequent standing and walking Occasional sitting Frequent reaching, pushing, and pulling Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception with ability to adjust focus Work Environment Kitchen and food service environment Noise level is typically low to moderate Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Statement Gateway Post Acute is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
