Full Job Description

Location: Putnam, CT Position: Quality Technician 1 Shift: 2nd shift (2:30pm - 11:00pm) Rate: $23.65/hr + $2/hr shift differential From a small family business to a multi-billion dollar global company, Sonoco has been changing the face of products and packaging since 1899 all while keeping the heart of People Build Businesses alive. This position reports directly to Site Quality Manager, and will be responsible for safe, efficient performance, coordinating the quality function and process improvement needs within the plant. What you will be doing: Conduct quality audits which include in-line & off-line AQL inspection/testing for products. During the Incoming, In-Process and Finished Goods parts. Assist in process Qualification studies as deemed necessary. Assist in maintaining customer property. Assist and/or train plant personnel in quality systems (SOPs, WIs & FORMS), Document Control, Quality Checks, Training, etc. Support Receiving processes with incoming inspections as assigned. Incoming COAs review and retention. Generate COCs for Product shipping to external warehouses. Must be able to control nonconforming material. Manage supplier issues (SCARs). Coordinate activities to maintain plant Calibration program UpToDate. Support in preparation for customer and laboratory samples. Other essential duties as assigned. We'd love to hear from you if: Have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent as well as 3-5 years of work experience within the Quality field. Individuals must be a self-starter with a working knowledge of quality systems and audit standards. Must have good verbal and written skills, be computer literate, and possess proven time management and organizational skills along with problem solving and analytical skills. Individuals must be results oriented, organized, and attentive to details. Must possess strong customer service skills with the ability to motivate work force. Flexibility/ability to adapt to change and apply knowledge to a competitive business environment is a must.
