Description of Work Salary Range-$41,206--$72,113 Salary Grade: NC09 Foothills Correctional Institution is located in Morganton NC Burke County and is a close custody male facility. ***THIS IS A REPOST...PREVIOUS APPLICANTS WILL NEED TO REAPPLY TO BE CONSIDERED*** This is journeyman level work in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures. Work assignments are received from a foreman or other supervisor and are performed independently and in accordance with accepted trade practices. New or unusual work orders are usually accompanied by sketches or blueprints. Work is reviewed through inspection of completed work for quality and compliance with work orders and is further evaluated on the basis of the continued workability of equipment, systems, and fixtures repaired or installed. KEY DUTIES: Installation & Maintenance: Installing circuit breakers, transformers, lighting, and power distribution systems. Troubleshooting & Repair: Testing electrical systems with tools like voltmeters and ohmmeters to identify and fix malfunctions. Safety Compliance: Adhering to OSHA guidelines and local building codes to ensure a safe work environment. Supervision: Mentoring and directing apprentices or helpers during installation tasks. System Upgrades: Replacing old wiring, devices, and electrical components. Documentation: Reporting on project progress, material usage, and inspection results. About The Division of Institutions: The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
