Activities Assistant (Part-Time) Visalia Post Acute Visalia, CA Pay Range: $17.48 $17.50 per hour (DOE) Visalia Post Acute is seeking an energetic, compassionate, and creative Activities Assistant to join our team. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with seniors and is passionate about enhancing residents quality of life through engaging activities and meaningful interactions. General Purpose The primary purpose of the Activities Assistant is to assist the Activities Director in planning, organizing, and implementing a creative and interactive activities program. This must be done in accordance with current federal, state, local, and facility guidelines to ensure that an ongoing program meets the physical, mental, and psychosocial needs of each resident. Essential Duties Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position; however, this does not imply that these are the only duties you will be required to perform. Assist in planning and conducting individual, small group, and large group activities. Encourage resident participation in activities, hobbies, crafts, games, and social programs. Assist in developing and maintaining the monthly activity calendar and attendance records. Support communication between staff, residents, families, and community organizations. Participate in community planning related to resident needs and interests. Assist with resident assessments, care plans, and quarterly progress notes as assigned. Participate in discharge planning and interdisciplinary team meetings as needed. Assist in arranging transportation for resident outings, appointments, and community events. Provide in-room activities for residents who are bed-bound or unable to attend group activities. Assist in implementing Quality Assurance initiatives as directed by the Activities Director. Maintain a clean, organized, and secure Activities Department. Provide materials and support for self-initiated resident activities, including adaptive resources as needed. Promote a positive, engaging, and supportive environment for all residents. Supervisory Requirements This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications Education and/or Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. One year of experience in a long-term care setting preferred but not required. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and policy manuals. Ability to effectively communicate with residents, families, and staff. Mathematical Skills Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, or diagram-based instructions. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations None required. Physical Demands Frequent standing and/or walking; occasional sitting. Frequent reaching, pushing, and pulling. Frequent talking and hearing. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception with the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment The work environment is a healthcare setting with a low to moderate noise level.
