Job Posting Title: Research Associate II ---- Hiring Department: Dell Medical School ---- Position Open To: All Applicants ---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40 ---- FLSA Status: Exempt ---- Earliest Start Date: Immediately ---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until Aug 31, 2026 ---- Location: AUSTIN, TX ---- Job Details: General Notes This is a grant funded position with an end date of 8/31/2026, renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward research goals. This is a hybrid position that may be remote by consideration. Our research team is working on a project focused on supporting the well-being of the harm reduction workforce, Stress First Aid (SFA) for the Harm Reduction Workforce, which we plan to expand into a large, randomized control trial (RCT) serving Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and tribal areas in fall 2025. SFA/HRW intervention comprises of a 2-hour training and learning collaboratives. Purpose The Research Assistant will provide research assistance with administrative tasks associated with a research study in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Austin, including tracking participants throughout the study, making sure participants receive payments and other participant contact activities. Additionally, the Research Assistant will provide assistance with facilitating the study intervention. Responsibilities Participant Recruitment and Enrollment Sends recruitment emails and flyers Sends research information sheets to participants Potential to work with social media Participant Tracking and Follow-up Assists in tracking study participation and retention over time Reviews data using software including REDCap, Excel, and other software and databases to track study participants and related activities Tracks participant compensation has been sent upon survey completion Sends reminders to participants to complete research components Assists with managing research-related correspondence from participants Coordinate and Facilitate SFA/HRW Intervention Components Assist with scheduling and coordinating trainings including providing real time support to participants having difficulty with Zoom platform Facilitate trainings and learning collaboratives Provides support for trainings and learning collaboratives Required Qualifications Bachelors degree Experience with projects involving human subject research and clinical trial work. This experience can have occurred within undergraduate education. Demonstrated organizational skills. Public speaking experience such as in student organizations or from formal academic course work such as public speaking, or communication courses. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate with research participants in a compassionate, sensitive manner. Good social media skills. Demonstrated detail orientation, ability to follow-through, and strong problem-solving skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word and willingness to learn other technologies as necessary. Ability to work independently and on a team. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with an approachable and engaging demeanor Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Bachelors degree, preferably in psychology or communications. Other compatible degrees would be in the social sciences or business and marketing or public health. Experience with REDCap and TANGO gift card systems. Experience with human subjects and clinical trial work. Salary Range $45,000 + depending on qualifications Working Conditions Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Assigned on-campus with an expectation to work on-site for most of the scheduled work week, with up to three flex days per week approved for remote work as determined by the supervisor based on the needs of the School. Remote work requires reliable internet access and a suitable, distraction-free workspace.
