Annual Salary: $48,184.50 - $51,558.00 Hourly: $24.71 - $26.44 Department: Police, Public Safety Division: Police Special Operations FLSA: Non-Exempt Job Description: This role will place an emphasis on providing excellent customer service and perform various routine and specialized clerical activities to assist Police Department officers and citizens. Examples of Duties: Attends training, workshops, meetings, etc., as required to enhance job knowledge and skills. Responds where dispatched to pick up prisoners and transport them to the appropriate jail or court. Receives prisoner property from arresting officer and ensures it is logged at the jail. Confirms all pertinent paperwork is properly filled and complete before transporting. Keeps log of transported prisoners. Types, prepares, processes, copies, scans, files, and distributes various documents. Becomes proficient in the use, handling, and maintenance of transport van, issued firearm, OC spray, handcuffs, leg shackles, and Police radio. Refers to policy and procedure manuals, computer manuals, directories, maps, logs, etc. Performs other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications: Associates degree (AA/AS) or equivalent in a related field; and one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel, and Word, or similar software. Valid South Carolina Drivers License. SC LE II (Corrections Officer) Certification at time of hire or within 6 months of employment. All qualified applicants must possess a clean criminal history and successfully complete the following: polygraph test, drug screening, and background investigation where applicable. All sworn and certain civilian positions will also be required to successfully complete a psychological evaluation, and oral board interview.
