Full Job Description

Join the team at our Schweitzer Wellbeing Center as a lifeguard and help create a safe, welcoming environment for our community. This role is essential to ensuring the safety of all guests while promoting health and wellbeing through aquatic activities. If youre attentive, responsible, and passionate about helping others, wed love to have you on board. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Provide high quality customer service to patrons including responding to membership inquiries and needs, educating patrons on pool safety, and professionally managing customer complaints. 2. Uphold the standard for professional lifeguarding, both on and off stand. 3. Ensure the safety of people in and around the Schweitzer Wellbeing Center natatorium by maintaining constant surveillance of patrons. 4. Follow and enforce safety standards, policies and procedures. 5. Monitor the pool area to prevent accidents and enforce facility rules. This includes identifying potential hazards and taking proactive steps to mitigate risks. 6. Perform water rescues and administer first aid and CPR as needed, including responding quickly and effectively to all emergency situations, and completing incident reports accurately and promptly. 7. Participate in process improvements to ensure efficient workflow with the aquatics team. 8. While on shift, ensure all rescue and safety equipment is in proper working condition. 9. While on shift, maintain cleanliness of pool deck, locker rooms, and surrounding areas. 10. Teach swimming safety and skills to patrons; structuring classes to support the customers growth in aquatic competency. This includes planning and preparing for classes and record keeping. 11. Required Qualifications Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Current American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, and AED for the Professional Rescuer Certification Demonstrated skills in customer service, problem-solving, communication, and computer knowledge Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment Background check results satisfactory to SEL Negative drug test result(s) Preferred Qualifications Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certificate 1-year proven swim instruction and/or water fitness Physical Requirements Regularly required to talk or hear Move or lift up to 50lbs frequently, and occasionally lift or move a higher amount Sit and/or stand for up to 8 hours Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, kneel, and/or twist Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus Frequently works in and around chlorinated water Ability to swim, move and train in the pool Pay Range Data We anticipate filling both Lifeguard and Head Lifeguard positions. Lifeguards generally start at $20.00/hour. Head Lifeguards generally start at $21.00/hour. Communication with Applicants We communicate with all applicants.
