What We Offer This is an on-call position, which means it is a part-time, hourly role. This position will work no more than 39 hours per week. The starting pay for this position is $20.06/hour and is eligible to enroll in the City and County of Denvers 457b retirement plan. This position is not eligible for other additional benefits. Oncall positions may have routine or variable work schedules. Location This position will report to the Morrison Headquarters at 300 Union Avenue, Morrison, CO., and will work a 9-8 flex schedule, 4/40 hours per week, 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Primary focus will be on maintaining the Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave buildings, facilities and grounds as well as providing support to the Chief Hosa Campground. What Youll Do Denver Parks and Recreation is seeking a seasonal worker for the Denver Mountain Parks Operations and Facility Management program. Established over a century ago in 1912, the Denver Mountain Parks consists of 14,000 acres of parks and open space across four counties outside of Denvers municipal boundary. The Mountain Parks system boasts a wide array of parks, historic structures, bison herds, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Buffalo Bills grave and museum, water resources, wildlife habitat, trails, and a variety of recreational activities ranging from the alpine environment of Mount Evans to the plains ecosystem of Daniels Park. Mountain Parks Utility Workers play an important role in maintaining Denvers extensive system of mountain parks that are essential to the communitys well-being. These individuals learn and practice a wide variety of general maintenance and landscaping skills providing them with a strong foundation to make upward moves within the Parks and Recreation Department. Skills to be developed and utilized on the job include, but are not limited to, the following: Work outdoors in parks using and maintaining various hand-powered tools and motorized equipment in a safe and efficient manner Assist with general facility and campground maintenance Perform landscape maintenance duties such as mowing, pruning, brushing, rock work, and trail maintenance Perform infrastructure maintenance and repair such as fencing, asphalt, concrete, road work, and erosion control Assist with grading and maintaining parking lots and gravel roads Interact with and learn alongside more seasoned park maintenance generalists and/or specialists such as maintenance technicians, historic preservation specialists, bison handlers, foresters, park rangers, and other experts in parks management and skilled trades work May assist with spring bison round-up Perform snow removal operations such as plowing, shoveling, de-icing Various related duties assigned as needed such as trash collection, bathroom maintenance and cleaning, vandalism repair/graffiti removal What Youll Bring We value diversity of ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status, sexual identity, gender, religion, language, ability, and experience and exemplify this through the makeup of our team at all levels.
