Under the general direction and supervision of Senior Histology/IHC Laboratory personnel, the IHC Laboratory Aide will effectively apply a general working knowledge and skill of designated Laboratory Aide related duties and tasks, in support of the Histology/IHC Department as a whole, in completing the daily assigned IHC/Histology workload. LOCATION: 760 Westchester Ave, Rye Brook, NY 10573 HOURS: 11:00am - 7:30pm; Monday to Friday FULL TIME: Benefits Eligible In this role you will: Personnel will possess a basic working knowledge sufficient to effectively complete under supervision, all designated essential functions of the IHC Laboratory Aide Must possess a knowledge of the Ventana and Dako instruments, Leica Slide Stainer, Sakura Cover-Slipper, sufficient to accomplish the following: Exchanging of instrument specific reagents at designated intervals. Timely completion of instrument specific QC documentation when applicable. Daily maintenance of cleanliness and neatness of IHC Lab and instrumentation in all aspects. Proper handling and disposal of chemical waste. Immediate notification to supervisory personnel of malfunctioning instrumentation. Daily acquisition of instrument specific data: refrigerators, freezers, processors, embedding centers, ovens and paraffin dispensers. Correlation of patient documentation with corresponding laboratory test materials (microscope slides). Timely distribution of completed patient materials to assigned pathologists. Immediate notification of existing and/or potential problems to the proper authority. Pull blocks when necessary. Basic knowledge of MS Excel. Basic troubleshooting diagnosis and/or repairs of instrumentations. Be able to counter stain and cover slip all processed slides All you need is: High school diploma/Associates Degree with some college in medical or science related course of study. Thorough working knowledge and understanding of computers, laboratory function, operating procedures and safety protocols. Minimum six (6) months prior experience as a histology Lab aide. Prior experience in a medical lab or related environment. Must be team oriented and possess above average interpersonal skills. Dependable, flexible and adaptable in all aspects of work. Able to maintain cooperative working relationships with peers and management. Salary starting $17.50 - 25.00 per hour. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. Sonic Healthcare USA, reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
