Dematic Corp has an immediate need for a Mechanical Engineering Manager to manage a project execution team dedicated to one of Dematics strategic clients, within our Project Engineering Group. The successful candidate will have 6+ years of experience leading Mechanical Systems engineers on varying scale projects in the material handling industry. Candidates must have significant experience with material handling systems and demonstrated success in team leadership roles. This manager will be overseeing a team that partners directly with a strategic client. The Mechanical Engineering Manager will be highly involved with managing day-to-day tactical project execution, assessing and growing team capabilities, working across department groups to ensure program-wide alignment, and driving strategic Project Engineering initiatives and continuous improvement opportunities. The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $104,250 - 152,900 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills. Tasks and Qualifications: What You Will do in This Role: Own project performance of direct engineering team Provide prompt coaching and guidance to help ensure project successes Ensure project targets are met for quality, on-time delivery, and cost. Anticipate issues and address appropriately where appropriate Provide regular reporting of project performance and status to management and peers Maintain accurate monthly forecasting across assigned projects Proactively manage direct project budgets and indirect department budgets Provide input to annual budget regarding staffing, indirect spending,etc. Attend project turnovers and appropriately assess projects for technical risks, cost risks, and schedule risks prior to execution team deployment Make educated project staffing choices based on team skills, program priorities, and customer visibility Maintain schedules for individual contributors and coordinate level-loading of team members Participate in pre-sale technical reviews with Sales and Solution Development teams Use opportunity to reduce project risks and develop close awareness of customer expectations and demands Successfully define work flows, jobs, and reporting relationships to obtain optimum effectiveness Analyzes and understands impact of decisions on business operations Appraise and recommend changes in methods or procedures. Team Growth and Development Responsibilities: Drive capacity planning through continual pipeline and team bandwidth assessments Effectively recruit, onboard, and integrate new hires into the team Develop a system for continuous team development through coaching and mentoring, gap assessment and training, and team and individual empowerment Develop project execution best practices and implement throughout team Create and maintain a culture of collaboration within team Set high expectations and encourage team members to be role-models internally throughout Dematic and externally with the customer Maintain safety and compliance standards Provide approachable and open lines of communication to all team members Support talent development through completion of formal yearly OCTR (Organization Capability and Talent Review) and Goal Setting processes Engage in regular communications with team members via mechanisms such as: 1-1 meetings, real-time learning/coaching opportunities, project team discussions, peer group meetings, and people feedback Work with team and peers to gauge team sentiment, attitude, and perceptions Take actions where needed and provide input and recommendations to senior leadership to address opportunities for Strategic Implementation and Continuous Improvement Responsibilities: Build cross-location and cross-department partnerships to develop consistent standards for program growth and stability Develop team engagement and team visibility throughout Dematic and within key customers Create and maintain a feedback loop (lessons learned, project variancesetc.) between project execution and solution development teams to continually respond to customer expectations, grow a better working environment for the team, and increase Dematics profitability Drive continuous improvement and lean initiatives within the Project Engineering group Empower team to promote and own a culture of continuous improvement Develop team and individual goals that align with strategic plan and achieving larger group goals Increase awareness of teams role and responsibility in achieving strategic goals Recommend changes and improvements where appropriate What We are Looking For: BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field of engineering At least (6) years of material handling industry or related experience Engineering management and/or team leadership experience preferred Mechanical equipment operation or ability to learn to maintain and repair material handling systems Ability to work individually and under minimal supervision in remote, office, and customer site environments Knowledge of CAD design software including AutoCAD Experience with Dematic RCD strongly preferred Experience with Dematics CET Designer Software (Maestro) strongly preferred Ability to solve complex design issues and implement effective and cost-efficient solutions Proven communications skills, flexibility, and willingness to work as part of a team of solution-oriented professionals Demonstrated stand-up presentation skills, group facilitation, and ability to effectively interact with customers Excellent leadership, teamwork, influencing, mentoring, and interpersonal skills Excellent organization, analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills Maintaining accurate and detailed records Understanding and following directions Working under pressure, meeting inflexible deadlines, and maintaining composure Travels up to 25% to different customer or Dematic locations Capable of providing technical assistance to support staff and other employees Positively represent the organization as an internal contact and a key customer-facing external contact Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
