Work Schedule: Day shift; 20 hours per week Monday-Friday, rotating day shift hours Area: Microbiology Location: Maywood, IL About the Job Experience is not necessary, but a solid foundation in biology/chemistry is required. Requires a highly motivated, curious, self-starter, forward thinking person. The laboratory provides opportunities for growth in the laboratory sciences. In this role, the Lab Support Service Tech (Microbiology) will be assigned to the microbiology and molecular pathology section as an entry level laboratory support. The primary responsibilities include the processing of patient specimens, answering the phone in a professional manner, and understanding the laboratory computer system coupled with performing on demand testing on multiple molecular platforms. It is essential that multi-tasking be done in a timely manner with minimum supervision after training. Here's what you'll''ll need Required: High School Diploma or GED is required. Prior knowledge of laboratory testing and specimen processing. Preferred: Associates Degree OR equivalent training acquired via work experience or education 1-2 years of previous job-related experience Experience/Skills Required: Strong aptitude for pattern recognition is required. Must be able to type at least 50 words-per-minute.
