Who were looking for: The UW Medicine - Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology (DLMP) in Seattle, WA has a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 1 with the Specimen Procurement Team at the University of Washington Medical Center - Montlake. Whether you are processing and preparing specimens for testing, performing blood draws on patients, or providing excellent customer service, you are influencing the timely and accurate diagnosis of patients at UW Medicine and beyond. Work schedule: 100% FTE Work schedule to be discussed with the hiring manager First shift What youll contribute: Perform Specimen Process Activities | Play a key role in patient care by performing specimen processing tasks such as receiving, sorting, and prioritizing specimens and requests, matching specimens against requisitions for appropriate tube type, centrifuging and aliquoting specimens, processing timed urine collections, resulting and reviewing entries for all reference lab testing, performing blood draws on patients, and performing various computer functions. Perform Customer Service | Exercise your customer service skills by responding promptly, courteously, and professionally to inquiries from patients, clients, and hospital and laboratory staff. Share Your Knowledge | Impart your laboratory wisdom by orienting and training new employees, participate in performance improvement activities and support the hospital in meeting JCAHO, CLIA, and CAP accreditation standards. Utilize Problem-Solving Skills | Resolve specimen and order-related problems in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner and provide appropriate documentation for supervisor review. What youll need: High school graduation or equivalent AND one (1) year of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience OR Completion of a laboratory assistant course approved by the American Society for Clinical Pathology OR Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration. Additional DLMP requirement: Medical Assistant Phlebotomist (MA-P) certification with the Washington State Department of Health OR obtain the MA-P certification within 180 days of start date. Desired qualifications: Associate or bachelors degree in science Experience in a major medical hospital laboratory Experience with a Laboratory Information System (LIS) What we offer: $3,000 sign-on bonus available for eligible new employees joining the UW Medicine team.
