In this role, youll help keep traffic flowing safely and efficiently by maintaining and repairing traffic signals, streetlights, pedestrian crossing systems, radar speed signs, and other critical lighting infrastructure. Install, maintain, and repair: street lights, traffic signals, aerial traffic signal equipment, and remote traffic count equipment. Perform traffic signal controller cabinet maintenance and cleaning. Repair and replace vehicle detectors & pedestrian detectors. Install, maintain & test video equipment used to monitor traffic and detect vehicles. Perform and test traffic signal controllers. Install, maintain, repair, and operate all types of school flashers, pedestrian crossing apparatus, illuminated and non-illuminated aerial signs, and various types of electronic equipment. Test, services/repairs fiber optic and copper cable communication circuits. Set up work zone traffic control (MOT/TTC). Work Hours: Monday Friday, 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m. *On-Call Required. About You Minimum Qualifications: A High school diploma or its equivalent Two (2) years experience as an electrician or similar field A Valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire A "CDL" Class B license or the ability to obtain within six (6) months from the date of hire (Paid by the County!) Must be able to obtain an IMSA Signal Level I certification within one (1) year of hire AND IMSA Signal Level II within three (3) years of hire Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
