If you receive an offer for this position, your annual pay will determine whether you are required to take additional furlough days. Street Maintenance is responsible for filling potholes, repaving streets, sweeping streets, and removing snow from public streets and alleys. The Division also manages the Citys asphalt plant, which produces asphalt for resurfacing and maintaining city streets and alleys. As a Equipment Operator you will: Be part of a Street Sweeping, Paving, Milling, or Asphalt team Be an entry level crew leader for the Utility Worker 1&2 teammates Perform semi-skilled and light to heavy physical labor on a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair projects. Operate light to medium sized equipment for maintenance and minor construction projects Place and remove barricades, cones, and other traffic control and safety devices in and around work areas for construction and maintenance projects in accordance with traffic regulation requirement Perform other related duties as assigned including snow removal duties What Youll Bring We value diversity of ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status, sexual identity, gender, religion, language, ability, and experience and exemplify this through the makeup of our team at all levels. Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics: Knowledge of city of Denver streets/alleys and use of maps Previous experience with street maintenance, and other labor-related tasks Experience working in various weather conditions (snow, rain, heat, etc.) and environments (dust, fumes, etc.) Knowledge of city of Denver streets/alleys and use of maps Desire to promote to other positions within the department Required Minimum Qualifications Education Requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of general labor experience which must include six (6) months of experience operating light to medium sized equipment. Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirements. License/Certifications: This job requires driving. Requires a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL "B") with appropriate endorsements at the time of application.
